Amazon workspaces down5/8/2023 ![]() But, for the many days in between, Amazon Workspaces will simply work. When it happens, it will be time-consuming and un-fun. Amazon Workspaces rarely fails (though it has happened) and OS upgrades happen every few years. It's infrequent these days for an OS to fail or for a virus to blow-up your system. It's generally not worth the time, expense or frustration for smaller teams. There are Workspace images or templates, but they're are technical restrictions on how to configure them correctly. You can increase your RAM, hard drive, and CPU settings fairly easily, but recovery is not easy. You can make it work, but it's just not what Workspace was designed to do. It seems reasonable that these computers will all be able to talk to each, forming a small remote network. It's a frustrating experience.Ī lot of people will expand from one Workspace to two, then three, etc. It's designed to be setup by someone with technological know-how. The downside is that there is just no way that any 'regular' person could setup a Workspace. It's what you expect and its what you get. The service has never gone down for me or my clients. The data sent between your computer and Amazon is tiny, which makes for a great experience on old computers or when the internet connection is less than optimal. This runs through a WorkSpace initialization to make sure that all WorkSpace components are healthy. The client connects quickly and is lightweight enough to be used on extremely old computers. Open the WorkSpaces console, and then select the WorkSpace that disconnects. ![]() Amazon's use of registration codes and generally restrictive access to resources makes it a more secure solution than most. Overall: Amazon Workspaces is fantastic for users who need a reliable Desktop computer from anywhere. Limited expansion from one Workspace to a small network. Solid performance - no lag or performance spikes.Ĭons: The initial configuration of a Workspace must be done by an administrator. The client to connect is more secure than most remote desktop services. Pros: The Workspace has never gone down or dropped a connection. ![]()
